It looks like its full steam ahead for an LG round smartwatch reveal at IFA 2014.
The Korean smart device maker just posted a teaser image and first look at the rumored device on its Facebook page during the wee hours of the night. Although most of the handset is shrouded in shadows we can clearly see the silhouette of a round watch face.
What's more, enhancing the photo in Lightroom reveals the so-called "LG R Watch" has a chinless, round display unlike the Moto 360.
Of course on the Moto 360 this black chin actually serves as space for the ambient light sensor. It should be interesting to see how LG got around this technical hurdle or whether the Korean company decided to skip including the sensor all together.
We can also see a small nub on the side, which should serve as a wake button for the wearable.
Going full circle
The image of the watch was also captioned with the message, "Meet LG's newest wearable at IFA 2014 from September 5 – 10." So it looks like we will see LG's new round handset next week.
Given that the square shaped LG G Watch just came barely a month ago we don't expect the new round wearable will be significantly more capable.
The smartwatch will more than likely be powered by Android Wear and feature roughly the same experience expect on a circular face.
- Will the iWatch be round as well?
