The Flash movie: release date, cast, multiple Batman actors and more explained

It’s long been claimed that Superman is faster than a speeding bullet. Compared to another member of the Justice League, however, the Man of Steel is something of a slow coach. The Flash movie is set to put DC Comics’ speedster-in-chief in the spotlight, in a turbo-charged adventure that will take Barry Allen (played once again by Ezra Miller) on a journey through time.

With the story inspired by the popular ‘Flashpoint’ arc in the comics, The Flash movie is also set to be big news for the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). When Barry travels back in time and changes history, he’ll open the door to other parallel dimensions within DC’s multiverse. He’ll also come into contact with at least three other superheroes, including a new Supergirl and two Batmen – Ben Affleck’s DCEU Caped Crusader will suit up alongside the Michael Keaton incarnation, with the actor returning to the role for the first time since 1992’s Batman Returns.

Ironically for a film about a man who’d leave Usain Bolt trailing in his dust and still have something to spare, The Flash movie has taken its time getting to the big screen. But with production now underway and a release date set for November 2022, here’s everything we know so far about The Flash movie story, cast, and what the supes will be wearing.

The Flash movie release date

The Flash movie release date: November 2022

In another corner of the multiverse, we might have seen The Flash movie back in 2018. But the DC Extended Universe’s solo Barry Allen adventure has been in development hell for years – and has had its fair share of writers and directors attached along the way.

As far back as 2014, just a year after the release of Man of Steel, DC and Warner had already lined up Ezra Miller to don the Scarlet Speedster’s suit, with The Lego Movie’s Phil Lord and Christopher Miller on board to write and potentially direct.

When they left the project to work on Solo: A Star Wars Story (they were subsequently replaced by Ron Howard), Pride & Prejudice & Zombies author Seth Grahame-Smith signed up to script and direct, but – according to Variety – departed the movie in April 2016 due to “creative differences”.

Rick Famuyiwa, director of Dope and three episodes of The Mandalorian, was next to take the helm, but left the project less than five months later. Again, Variety said that “creative differences” were to blame.

Warner then tried to recruit (as reported by Variety) either Back to the Future director Robert Zemeckis or Kick-Ass’s Matthew Vaughn, but neither could make the scheduling work. The DCEU’s Batman star Ben Affleck was also approached to direct, but he turned the gig down.

Then it was the turn of Spider-Man: Homecoming writers/Game Night directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, who were attached to the movie from March 2018 to July 2019. During this period, Ezra Miller teamed up with legendary comics writer Grant Morrison to write a new version of the script. Morrison told Collider that their take was “like Back to the Future”.

It wasn’t until July 2019 that Warner and DC finally settled on the team who would take the movie before the cameras. As reported by the Hollywood Reporter, they recruited Birds of Prey and Bumblebee writer Christina Hodson, and IT director Andy Muschietti.

Production belatedly got underway in London in April 2021, with The Flash movie release date now confirmed for November 4, 2022.

The Flash movie trailer

The Flash movie trailer: is there one?

In the absence of Barry Allen-style time travel shenanigans, it’s still a little early to be expecting The Flash movie trailer. In the meantime, you can make do with the animated logo treatment Andy Muschietti posted on Instagram to mark the start of filming.

The Flash movie plot

The Flash movie plot: across the multiverse

While we don’t know many story specifics, we do know that The Flash movie plot is partially inspired by Geoff Johns and Andy Kubert’s iconic 2011 comic-book story arc, Flashpoint – indeed, Flashpoint was set to be the title of the film for a time, before reverting to The Flash.

In the comics version, Barry Allen finds himself in an unfamiliar alternative universe where his late mother is still alive. In movie, Barry will use his time-traveling abilities in an effort to save his mom, Nora – and in so doing, inadvertently make major changes to the space-time continuum.

As director Andy Muschietti explained at DC’s Fandome event in August 2020, “His mother was murdered, his father was framed and incarcerated, and all his journey from then was of a man trying to make things right.”

“Batman lost his parents, Superman lost his planet, Harley Quinn lost her egg sandwich…” added screenwriter Christina Hodson, “but Barry, because he’s got this ability to go back and manipulate time, he’s the only one who can actually go and change his own personal story.

“[But] time travel isn’t simple,” Hodson warned. “It’s not always a straightforward case of, ‘Go back and change one thing, and another thing changes in the future.’”

Crucially, just as the Loki season 1 finale opened the doors to Marvel’s take on the multiverse, The Flash movie is breaking down the barriers between alternative dimensions within the DCEU.

“The cinematic multiverse is going to be born out of this movie,” Hodson revealed. “It’s born out of Barry’s story.

“This film is immensely important,” added star Ezra Miller, “because if you look around the DC Universe, obviously you have all of these characters that exist within their own bubbles. We even have now multiple iterations of the same story. This movie, by opening that door that Flashpoint did in the comics, all of these stories and characters can start to collide.”

“This movie is a bit of a hinge in the sense that it presents a story that implies a unified universe where all the cinematic iterations that we’ve seen before are valid,” Muschietti told Vanity Fair. “It’s inclusive in the sense that it is saying all that you’ve seen exists, and everything that you will see exists, in the same unified multiverse.”

With two Batmen already confirmed to appear, and every screen iteration of every DC character now apparently in play, the debate over whether this Barry Allen is the one who survived the theatrical cut of Justice League – or the one who had a considerably more pivotal role in Zack Snyder’s version of the movie – suddenly seems rather less important…

The Flash movie cast

The Flash movie cast: who’s in the film?

The confirmed cast list looks like this:

  • Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash
  • Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman
  • Michael Keaton as another Bruce Wayne/Batman
  • Kiersey Clemons as Iris West
  • Sasha Calle as Supergirl
  • Ron Livingston as Henry Allen
  • Maribel Verdú as Nora Allen
  • Saoirse-Monica Jackson as TBC
  • Rudy Mancuso as TBC
  • Ian Loh as young Barry Allen

Ezra Miller returns to play Barry Allen (aka The Flash) for the third time after appearing in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (briefly) and Justice League (more substantially, especially in the Snyder Cut).

He’ll be suiting up alongside two different incarnations of the Caped Crusader – and neither of them are the Robert Pattinson version from the upcoming The Batman. (Though, given the dimension-hopping nature of the movie, it wouldn’t be a massive surprise if that Bruce Wayne did turn up.)

Ben Affleck is back as the Dark Knight who fought Steppenwolf alongside Barry Allen in Justice League, and it looks like he’ll be something of a mentor figure for his speedy colleague.

“[Affleck’s Batman] is a very substantial part of the emotional impact of the movie, Muschietti told Vanity Fair. “The interaction and relationship between Barry and Affleck’s Wayne will bring an emotional level that we haven’t seen before. It’s Barry’s story, but their characters are more related than we think. They both lost their mothers to murder, and that’s one of the emotional vessels of the movie. That’s where the Affleck Batman kicks in.”

The director also describes Bat-fleck as “the baseline. He’s part of that unaltered state before we jump into Barry’s adventure.”

The other Caped Crusader we know about (so far) is played by Michael Keaton, who famously wore the famous cowl in Tim Burton’s Batman and Batman Returns. After being the worst kept secret in Hollywood for the best part of a year, Keaton’s comeback was only officially confirmed in April (via Entertainment Weekly). Muschietti says Keaton’s part is “substantial”.

Elsewhere, the Hollywood Reporter confirmed in March that Kiersey Clemons will be reprising her Zack Snyder’s Justice League role (she was cut out of the theatrical release) as journalist (and Barry’s love interest) Iris West.

And the superhero roster will be bolstered by Sasha Calle (a star of long-running soap opera The Young and the Restless) who’ll play the DCEU version of Supergirl. It’s yet to be confirmed if she’s Kara Danvers, Lara Lane-Kent or some other incarnation of the Kryptonian hero. “I saw more than four hundred auditions,” said Muschietti (via Deadline). “The talent pool was truly amazing and it was very hard to make a decision, but we finally found an actress who was destined to play this role.”

Muschietti passed on the good news about Calle’s casting in an Instagram video:

Y Tu Mama También and Pan’s Labyrinth star Maribel Verdú will play the pivotal role of Barry’s mom, Nora Allen, while his dad, Henry, will look significantly different to how he did in Justice League. Variety revealed in March that Office Space’s Ron Livingston will replace Billy Crudup in the role. Newcomer Ian Loh will play Barry Allen as a kid.

The confirmed cast is rounded out by Derry Girls’ Saoirse-Monica Jackson and YouTuber Rudy Mancuso in yet-to-be-announced roles.

Will Grant Gustin's speedster turn up in The Flash movie? (Image credit: The CW)

But don’t be surprised if The Flash movie features big-name cameos from stars who’ve played DC characters in previous films and TV shows. According to a report in CBR.com, Ray Fisher says he’d potentially be up for reprising his role as Cyborg – on condition of an apology from Warner Bros for his treatment on the set of Justice League. There have also been rumors of comebacks for Superman Returns star Brandon Routh, and Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman.

Most intriguingly of all, could this Barry Allen come to face with his counterpart from the Arrowverse version of The Flash? Miller’s Allen has already crossed paths with the Grant Gustin incarnation in the CW’s Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event, so it wouldn’t be the first time:

The Flash movie costumes: what will the supes be wearing?

Muschietti revealed Barry Allen’s new Flash suit at DC’s Fandome event in 2020 (check out the concept art at Variety), claiming that, “it’s more organic, you can see the light embedded in it.” It was also revealed that Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne had some input in its design.

The director has also taken to Instagram to tease Michael Keaton’s batsuit…

…and Supergirl’s new outfit:

Writer Tom Taylor, co-creator of the Lara Lane-Kent Supergirl, also tweeted some photos of Sasha Calle on set, comparing the new Supergirl with the comic books.

Ted Lasso season 2 episode 2 ending explained: Jamie Tartt’s future revealed

Spoilers follow for Ted Lasso season 2 episode 2 ‘Lavender’.

The second episode of Ted Lasso season 2 has landed on Apple TV Plus, and its cliffhanger ending could lead to some tense moments for Ted (Jason Sudeikis) and AFC Richmond’s squad moving forward.

Jamie Tartt, the egotistical but talented soccer player who spent time on loan at Richmond last season, has returned to the club – and, this time, he’s back permanently.

Given that Ted has spent months building a harmonious dressing room atmosphere, Jamie’s shock return threatens to undo that good work. So how will Richmond’s players, including Sam Obisanya (Toheeb Jimoh) react to Jamie’s signing? And what could Jamie’s return mean for Richmond’s chances of promotion back to the Premier League?

Ahead of Ted Lasso season 2 episode 2’s release, TechRadar sat down with Phil Dunster, who plays Jamie in the show, to find out just how divisive Jamie’s return could be.

The prodigal son returns

Jason Sudeikis' Ted Lasso and Phil Dunster's Jamie Tartt chatting in Ted Lasso season 2 episode 2

Jamie was conspicuously absent for much of season 2’s opening episode but, as viewers will now know, there was a reason for this: Jamie had signed up to be a contestant on Lust Conquers All, a satirical take on reality TV dating shows like Love Island.

Within the first 10 minutes of episode 2, though, Jamie’s entire world comes crashing down.

After he’s voted off Lust Conquers All, Jamie learns that Manchester City – the team he left to appear on the reality TV series – don’t want him back. A chat with his agent, too, reveals that there are no clubs that want to take a punt on him either. The reason? “You’re seen as a liability,” Jamie’s agent tells him.

Despondent and desperate, Jamie meets up with Ted to ask if he can return to Richmond in a permanent capacity. The duo engage in a heart-to-heart, but Ted turns Jamie’s request down.

That is, until Ted appears to change his mind as a result of conversations with Sam and Doctor Sharon Fieldstone (Sarah Niles), the club's newly appointed sports psychologist.

A photograph of Ted and Jamie’s meeting leaks online and, once he hears that Jamie may be coming back, Sam storms off. Ted follows him to reveal that Jamie won’t be returning.

Ted, though, reconsiders his stance when Sam inadvertently reminds him that Richmond haven’t won yet this season. A similar point is made by Sharon, who prompts Ted to change something as his team is on a run of eight straight draws.

Cue episode 2’s climactic scene, with Jamie – kitted out in Richmond’s training gear – arriving for first-team training, much to the displeasure of Sam and Richmond’s other players.

For Dunster, Jamie’s sudden reappearance, and the potential impact it’ll have on Richmond’s squad, is a reflection of real-life soccer where players don’t get along with all of their teammates. Even so, given the positive environment that Ted has fostered since Jamie’s departure, his return could spell danger for Richmond’s team spirit.

“There’s a lot of trepidation to Jamie coming back,” Dunster tells TechRadar. “In Sam’s case, you have this person who has been thriving because Jamie is no longer there, but now has to deal with him wanting to come back. And the team and Ted seem open to it [Jamie’s return], so Sam feels betrayed by that. It’s a brilliant idea on our writers’ part as it’s what would actually happen at a football club.”

Winning back support

Jamie Tartt makes his AFC Richmond return in Ted Lasso season 2 episode 2

The muted reaction to Jamie’s return, though, is indicative of what Richmond’s squad initially thinks of Ted’s decision – and Jamie can sense it.

Manchester City’s sudden recall of Jamie from his loan spell last term, combined with him setting up the goal that relegated Richmond in the season 1 finale, means that Jamie has plenty of bridges to mend if he wants to regain his teammates’ trust.

He was Richmond’s star player before Ted’s arrival. Now, though, Jamie finds himself as the outsider of the group for the first time in his career – and it’s a position that, while alien to Jamie, might be the catalyst for real change within him.

“He understands that people are going to be upset with him,” Dunster explains. “Maybe he doesn’t quite know how to deal with that yet, but their reactions don’t surprise him. He’s an underdog for the first time in his professional career and people aren’t sure if it’s going to work out. But, as we see throughout this episode and the rest of the series, he finds very Jamie-esque ways to try and win hearts and minds.”

Judging by Jamie’s past attempts to do the right thing and win people over, viewers can expect more bumps in the road as Jamie looks to redeem himself. Under Ted’s guidance at his spiritual home of AFC Richmond, though, Jamie is in the right place to improve personally and professionally. If he does, maybe, just maybe, Richmond can truly start to believe in that dream Premier League return.

The first two episodes of Ted Lasso season 2 are available to stream now on Apple TV Plus.

Is this the best 55-inch OLED TV out there?

If you’re after a 55-inch 4K TV that really pulls out all the stops, the Panasonic JZ2000 may have you sorted.

Panasonic has long had a reputation for exceptional OLED TVs – helped by its use of a custom Master HDR Professional Edition panel that elevates the brightness usually possible on an OLED screen.

This year’s iteration doesn’t change much in that sense – last year’s HZ2000 had effectively the same panel and brightness output – but the continued excellence of Panasonic’s flagship screens, alongside the tweaks and improvements that have come to the JZ2000’s connectivity and audio output, could make it a shoe-in for the best 55-inch OLED TV we’ve seen this year.

That’s high praise indeed, in a year which has seen the LG G1 – a Gallery Series screen that similarly ups the brightness compared to run-of-the-mill OLED displays – or the Sony A90J that marked the TV maker’s best screen since 2019’s Sony A9G.

But while all these screens share excellent picture quality and processing, with high-spec chipsets powering the deep black, infinite contrast and all-round dynamism of OLED panels – all of which, we should remember, come from the same supplier (LG Display) – the JZ2000 has an edge in just how much audio power it packs into a single screen’s built-in speakers.

Not to mention the side-firing speakers (new for 2021) that help expand the sound around your living room or home cinema, ensuring the quality of the sound is heard clearly anywhere nearby.

Sound the alarm

Panasonic JZ2000 OLED TV with direction of audio shown

The 125W output of the JZ2000 is truly wall-shaking, and that’s even if you only up the volume to half of its full potential. It marks a welcome change from the often substandard built-in audio of so many high-end screens, which get by on the presumption of a separate sound system in your home, or questions even high-spend consumers’ dedication to premium audio alongside the excellent picture quality of these OLED screens.

The LG C1 and LG G1 OLEDs only pack in 40W total audio output each, with a muddy bass response that seems preschool compared to the advances made in Panasonic’s extensive sound systems.

In our LG C1 review, we said the screen’s only real issue was how “audio can be a bit all over the place – meaning you’ll hear booming bass and nearly sibilant highs with weaker dialogue when watching that big new Hollywood blockbuster. For us, it happened during Falcon and The Winter Soldier where the sound effects were fantastic but the actual actors’ voices were getting lost in the mix.”

It’s a small issue, and admittedly fixable by choosing an Enhanced Dialogue sound preset or turning on volume leveling – though at the expense of some bass output, meaning it’s something of a compromise.

The Sony A90J certainly impressed our reviewer on the audio side – though its Acoustic Surface Audio+ system, which literally shakes the screen’s panel to emit sound, can be a bit of a Marmite option, sounding expansive to some and a bit muddied to others.

Sony A90J OLED on black pedestal

It’s hard to imagine anyone listening to the JZ2000’s impactful sound and feeling disappointed, though.

We wrote in our review that “The JZ2000’s speakers are truly incredible for built-in audio, being capable of recreating both the delicate footstep on a stairway and roaring explosion of a car crash in equal measure. You’re getting precise audio detail as well as a strong bass response – and while some subwoofers and surround sound systems can outperform it, you simply won’t get better built-in audio on a smart TV right now.

“While any TV will have a ‘sweet spot’ for the picture and sound (usually dead on center) the wide viewing angles of the OLED panel and side-firing sound of the JZ2000’s speakers means that sitting in almost any spot in your living room should make for an impressive movie night. And it’s this combination of picture and sound capabilities that makes the JZ2000 an all-in-one home cinema in a way the LG C1... simply isn’t.”

Ticking all the boxes

There are more reasons to buy a TV than its audio performance, certainly. But at a time when OLED, even brightness-enhanced OLED, is becoming standardised across a few flagship ranges, and HDMI 2.1 specification is available on both mid-range and high-end sets, audio remains a hugely varying spec across screens of all sizes and price tags.

Panasonic’s TV department is smart enough to vary this audio output between its OLED screens, too, making do with 30W on the entry-level JZ980 and JZ1000 models, and gradually scaling up to the 125W of its JZ2000 flagship.

Unsurprisingly, you’ll be paying through the nose for this high-end Panasonic screen. It starts at £2,699 for a 55-inch size, going up to £3,499 for a 65-inch model. Both feature the same sound system, too, meaning you can get a lot of audio power even on its smaller sizing option.

If you’re after an OLED TV in the UK that sounds as good as it looks in 2021, and can do all that at a 55-inch size – rather than requiring the wall space for 65 inches or above – the JZ2000 should absolutely be on your radar.

The Crown season 5: everything we know

The Crown season 5, like previous seasons, will adapts real-world events through the prism of prestige drama – and filming is ongoing, with Netflix now having released our first glimpse of Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II (see above for that).

The Crown seasons 1-4 has used anime-style time skipping to keep the show interesting and to cover broad eras of the royal family's history. For a lot of people who don't know the family's history, Netflix's drama has proven to be an education.

Season 4 took us up to 1990, while season 5 will take us deeper into the decade. The Crown season 5 will give viewers another cast shake-up as we leap through time once more for the show's final few seasons, and Netflix has finally started talking about who's being added for this next run. Most recently, Jonny Lee Miller was added to the series as former Prime Minister John Major, but there are still a lot of actors we're yet to hear about.

Spoilers follow, as we go in-depth with everything we know about The Crown season 5 so far.

Release date: The Crown season 5 is filming now, so we'd expect to see the show return at some point in 2022.

Story: With The Crown season 4 ending in Christmas 1990, expect this next season to explore the end of Charles and Diana's marriage, John Major's time as Prime Minister, and the Queen's annus horribilis in 1992.

Cast: Imelda Staunton will take on the role of Queen Elizabeth II, with Jonathan Pryce playing Prince Philip, Elizabeth Debicki cast as Princess Diana, Lesley Manville taking on the role of Princess Margaret and Jonny Lee Miller playing John Major.

The future: The Crown has already been renewed for a sixth and final season, which is apparently set to cover up until the early 2000s.

The Crown season 5 release date

The Crown season 5 release date: 2022

There will be a longer wait than usual for season 5 of The Crown. Deadline reported back in July 2020 that filming wouldn’t start until June 2021, with the series set to hit Netflix in 2022. The break in production is actually not down to the ongoing pandemic – the show had planned to take a gap year long before COVID presented the world of TV and film with numerous challenges.

The same report says season 6 is set to film in 2022, so the gap between the next two seasons should be slightly shorter.

Filming has indeed begun on season 5, according to reports, and the fact that we've now had our first look at Staunton as the Queen.

The Crown season 5 cast

The Crown season 5 cast: out with the young

The Crown season 5

  • Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II
  • Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret
  • Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh
  • Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana
  • Jonny Lee Miller as John Major
  • And many more to be confirmed

The fifth season of The Crown will undergo another sizeable cast shake-up, as our ageing royal family enters the 1990s – The Crown season 4 ended in late 1990, as we'll discuss further down.

We’ll be waving farewell to Olivia Colman and welcoming Imelda Staunton to take on the role of Queen Elizabeth II. You may recognize Staunton from her role as the abominable Professor Umbridge in Harry Potter. Similarly, Tobias Menzies will be stepping aside to allow fellow Game of Thrones co-star Jonathan Pryce to take over as Prince Philip.

Additionally, we’ll see Phantom Thread’s Lesley Manville assume the role of Princess Margaret, and Elizabeth Debicki, who you may know from Christopher Nolan's Tenet, will play the slightly older version of Princess Diana.

While the main cast changes have been confirmed, we are yet to find out who will fill the shoes of some of the key supporting cast. The roles of the Queen’s children, Anne, Edward and Andrew, are still unconfirmed, as are Camilla Parker Bowles and the Queen Mother. A Variety report from October 2020 said that The Affair’s Dominic West was in near-final talks for Prince Charles’ role, but that is also unconfirmed.

Season 4 also ended with the resignation of Thatcher, which means we’ll see a new Prime Minister enter the fray. Season 5 will follow the tenure of John Major, and we’ll likely also get a short burst of Tony Blair, who was in office during Diana’s death.

In June 2021, Netflix finally added another cast member to the list: Jonny Lee Miller as John Major. That likely means we're not too far off learning who the rest of the cast is going to be, especially if filming is happening now.

The Crown season 4 recap

The Crown season 4 recap: where did it begin and end?

The Crown season 4 picked up in 1977, but the first episode honed in on 1979 with the election of Margaret Thatcher (Gillian Anderson). It also showcased the murder of Lord Mountbatten (Charles Dance), claimed by the IRA, which served as the show's entry point into focusing on the ongoing Troubles in Northern Ireland. We also started to see the show come into what might be termed recent history, with focuses on working class struggles, the dissolution of Apartheid, and Diana’s influence on the public.

The Queen (Olivia Colman) also took an early shining to Princess Diana (Emma Corrin) as Charles’ (Josh O'Connor) perfect, prospective bride. After passing ‘The Balmoral Test’ with flying colors, the royal family pressured Charles into marrying Diana.

The Queen’s relationship with Thatcher also began on kind grounds, but slowly neutralized over the course of the season as ol’ Maggie’s rule got more and more ruthless. The pair’s personal relationship soured, but ends in a dignified fashion with mutual respect shown for the traits they have in common.

Season 4 also did a fantastic job of making each and every cast member pretty unlikeable. The substantial age gap between Charles and Diana makes for a turbulent dynamic – Charles’ petulant reactions to Diana’s personal struggles paired with his unwillingness to let go of Camilla (Emerald Fennell) makes him hard to watch in season 4.

Throughout the season, the Queen observed Thatcher’s weakness when it came to her children, particularly her son Mark who she cited as her favorite. Upon learning this, The Queen sets off on a personal journey to reconnect with her own children, and discovers that they all carry their own indiscretions, emotional baggage and personal struggles.

The Crown season 4 wrapped up in 1990 with the resignation of an unpopular Thatcher and a particularly frosty Christmas at Balmoral Castle. During the festivities, both The Queen and Prince Philip tire of Charles and Diana’s marriage complaints. While the Queen simply and coldly urged Charles to focus on his royal duty, Philip turned a darker corner, with a quiet warning of the consequences Diana will face if her marriage fails.

Hey, maybe that's why some critics want to see a pre-show disclaimer reminding people that The Crown is a fictional drama, and not a documentary (something Netflix has confirmed it has no plans to do).

The Crown season 5 plot

The Crown season 5 plot: what will happen next?

The Crown season 5

Season 4 suggests the departure of Anderson’s Thatcher.  (Image credit: Des Willie)

With Thatcher gone and Charles and Diana’s unhappy union in full swing, we’ll be sailing full speed ahead into the 1990s. It has also been confirmed that there will be a sixth and final season of The Crown, set to conclude in the early 2000s. Showrunner Peter Morgan has said that "season six will not bring us any closer to present day – it will simply enable us to cover the same period in greater detail."

The season doesn’t have an official plotline yet, but we can take a swing at what might happen in season 5 based on real-life royal events, with an additional season taken into account.

1992 was a particularly rough year for the Windsor clan. It saw the breakdown of not one, but two royal marriages – Prince Andrew’s separation from Sarah Ferguson, and Princess Anne’s official divorce from long-term husband Captain Mark Phillips. Prince Andrew’s wedding featured briefly in The Crown season 4, and we get a glimpse into Anne’s spousal struggles too, which suggests they may have a more pivotal role in season 5.

Of course, we’re in for a further ride with Charles and Diana’s relationship, and that was not shy on scandal. In June 1992, author Andrew Morton released ‘Diana: Her True Story’, a bestselling autobiographical book that detailed Diana’s struggles and the turbulence of her marriage, with her own personal input. The book was published while she was still married to Charles. As you can imagine, it didn’t go down too well with the rest of the family, so we suspect it might crop up in the next season.

The Crown season 5

And to top off that year, we may see a fiery, fictionalized spectacle based on the 1992 Windsor Castle fire. The real fire burned for around 15 hours and caused six minor injuries to staff – and a great big castle fire is a good old excuse for some top-notch TV drama, isn’t it?

All in all, the Queen dubbed 1992 her "annus horribilis" in a famous speech. That's bound to be great material for the writers of Netflix's hit series.

We’ve also got scope for a number of scandals inside the British Government in the 1990s. Notably, we have John Major’s 1993 ‘Back To Basics’ campaign, designed to promote traditional familial values, but ultimately fell into ruin following a number of scandals inside the Conservative Party.

The Arms to Iraq affair that coursed through the 1990s may also make for juicy plot developments in The Crown, as government-approved sales of weapons to Iraq made John Major quite unpopular in the run up to Tony Blair’s winning election in 1997.

Finally, the core of The Crown season 5 will undoubtedly be the breakdown of Charles and Diana’s marriage, until their divorce in 1996, and Diana’s tragic death in 1997. We all know that there’ll be ample room for tension and drama there, and lots of us remember the impact that Diana’s death left on the world.

What remains to be seen is how true to real life The Crown will remain, and how much justice it serves Diana in her final moments. With season 6 on the cards, it is also unclear as to whether season 5 will even get to Diana’s death. It may serve as a dramatic season finale, or simply be left for the final series.

Still, we won’t be seeing any of that until 2022 at the earliest. In the meantime, maybe it's worth binging a few documentaries about the royal family and reminding yourself about what truly happened.

Microsoft Visual Studio 2022 is fixing one of the most annoying issues for developers

With the recent release of Microsoft Visual Studio 2022 Preview 2, Microsoft has introduced a brand-new Hot Reload experience that not only helps developers be more productive but also supports both managed .NET and native C++ apps.

The software giant's goal with the latest update to its development environment is to save developers as many app restarts between edits as possible according to a new blog post. To achieve this, Microsoft has made it possible for developers to edit their applications' code files and in many cases, apply code changes immediately without having to pause an apps' execution or restarting.

At the same time though, this brand-new Hot Reload technology for code files will also still work side-by-side with XAML Hot Reload making both XAML and .NET Hot Reload available for applications which use XAML for their UI.

Furthermore, Hot Reload works alongside existing debugger capabilities developers are familiar with such as breakpoints and 'edit and continue' (EnC) to modify running code at a breakpoint and other features.

Revamped Hot Reload experience

In Microsoft Visual Studio 2022 Preview 2, Hot Reload works with many types of apps including those powered by XAML such as WPF and WinUI 3 along with many others including Windows Forms, ASP.NET web apps, Blazor Server, Console apps and others apps where a modern .NET runtime is used in combination with Visual Studio debugger.

Microsoft has also said that it is actively working to support more app types in the future such as Blazor Wasm and .NET MAUI iOS/Android.

Going forward, the company plans to add support for Blazor web apps in more scenarios and editing CSS files during Hot Reload though it also plans to add further improvements to the user experience in Visual Studio 2022.

Being able to edit application code files and apply changes without having to pause an app's execution or restart will likely be welcomed by developers using Visual Studio 2022 as this will save them time and help improve their overall productivity.

Why Tresorit's end-to-end encryption is crucial for your business

On the surface, it may seem as though the coronavirus pandemic completely redefined our approach to the traditional workplace. And while it's true that lockdown and quarantine measures made distributed work an absolute necessity, this was not unprecedented. At least, not in the way one might think.

The fact is that, as noted by consulting firm McKinsey, the shift to remote work was one of several inevitable trends — the pandemic simply moved the timeline forward by about a decade.

Distributed work was already inevitable. The hybrid workplace, which blends in-office collaboration with telecommuting, was already the future. The traditional walled fortress approach to cybersecurity was already becoming gradually more obsolete.

Consider the following:

Looking beyond the walls

That isn't to say that controlling your security perimeter is no longer important. You still need to ensure your fortress, as it were, remains secure. The prominence of remote work simply requires you to think beyond the walls — to your supply lines and outposts, if we're to use the same analogy.

Unfortunately, especially if you work in a regulated sector, this is often easier said than done for a few reasons:

Locking down access and implementing increasingly-strict security controls is not the answer to these problems, either. As countless studies in the past have shown, security measures that interfere with productivity are functionally useless. People will find workarounds, and there is no guarantee that those workarounds will be secure.

 What can you do, then?

Tresorit Admin dashboard

The answer to that is surprisingly simple. All you need is a secure content sharing platform developed with collaboration at its core. A solution that provides seamless, fully compliant end-to-end encryption.

A solution like Tresorit.

Introducing Tresorit: security that stays with your data

Tresorit Security Settings

An alternative to tools such as Dropbox and Google Workspace, Tresorit's end-to-end encryption is some of the best in the industry. Compliant with GDPR, HIPAA, FINRA, TISAX, and ISO27100, it offers full coverage for both email security and data sharing. Moreover, because it's built on zero trust architecture, passwords and encryption keys are neither stored in nor transmitted through the organization's servers.

We'd forgive you for being a bit skeptical, of course. Every software vendor claims that their security is the best. Every software developer says they can help you protect your data.

Where Tresorit differs is that its services have been fully evaluated by FIY Cybersecurity, with the third-party security analyst finding Tresorit's claims about its encryption completely accurate.

What does Tresorit bring to the table?

Tresorit Member List (Individual Version)

Alongside its security controls, Tresorit offers all the same collaboration functionality as its competitors. Your users will be free to collaborate, communicate, and share content just as they did before. The only difference is that you'll have the peace of mind that comes with knowing that, whether it's in the hands of a vendor, a contractor, or a remote employee, your data is never out of your control.

As for file storage, Tresorit's business plans offer up to 2TB per user with a file size limit of up to 20GB. Individual plans, meanwhile, max out at 2.5TB with a maximum file size of 10GB. Tresorit can be accessed in several different ways, depending on your organization's needs and infrastructure.

Tresorit Content Shield Security Policies

Arguably the greatest draw of Tresorit, however, is the Tresorit Content Shield. Available via Tresorit's Enterprise plan, Content Shield considerably amps up the platform's already comprehensive security. It enables a range of functionality including:

Perhaps most importantly of all, Tresorit offers all this at a fraction of the cost typically associated with enterprise security solutions. Prices for individual plans start at $10.42/month. Business plans are only a little costlier, at $14.50/month.

It's time to secure your supply chain

Distributed work isn't going anywhere, and thanks to digitization, your business's supply chain is more complex and comprehensive than it's ever been. To keep pace and ensure you aren't putting crucial data at risk, you need software that's both intuitive and highly secure. Tresorit is exactly that — a powerful, affordable platform to keep sensitive information securely in the right hands.

Powerful and intuitive, Tresorit is an end-to-end encryption service that offers everything your organization and employees need to enable a seamless, secure approach to distributed work.

The Boys season 3: everything we know

The Boys season 3: key info

- Currently filming for Amazon Prime Video
- Will introduce Jensen Ackles' Soldier Boy
- A fictional news show fills in the gaps between seasons 2 and 3
- Gunpowder, Blue Hawk and Supersonic have been cast in the show
- Season 3 will adapt the Herogasm storyline and introduce the superhero team Payback

The Boys season 3 has been filming for a while now, and anticipation is high for the next series of Amazon Prime's adaptation of Gareth Ennis and Darick Robertson's graphic novels – but what do we know about the next part so far?

Well, while filming is expected to wrap up soon enough, quite a lot has been revealed about the broad strokes of season 3 in terms of story. We're predicting that The Boys season 3 will get a release date of 2022 at this point, too, based on how things are going – but Amazon hasn't revealed when it's getting here either way.

Below, we'll explore everything we know about The Boys season 3 to date, including its plot, cast and a new YouTube series that's designed to bridge the gap between season 2 and the new episodes. A word of warning before we begin: we'll be dealing with huge spoilers for The Boys seasons 1 and 2, as well as diving into the graphic novels. If you don't want any of that ruined for you, turn back now.

Release date: The Boys season 2 released in September 2020, and season 1 dropped in July 2019. But we're not expecting season 3 this year, since it's reportedly filming until August – and that this is an effects-heavy show, requiring a lot of post-production work. Amazon has shed no light on the release date yet.

Cast: A spate of new cast members have joined the show for this season, most notably Jensen Ackles as the superficially Captain America-esque Soldier Boy. The Walking Dead's Laurie Holden also joins this season, along with Sean Patrick Flanery, Nick Wechsler and Miles Gaston Villanueva.

Story: There's a lot expected to go down in The Boys season 3 – the introduction of the team Payback, for example. We expect the show to expand on the idea of Congresswoman Victoria Neuman being the series' secret Big Bad, as was revealed at the end of season 2, since Hughie is now working for her. Elsewhere, it's been confirmed that season 3 will deal with the 'Herogasm' storyline, a fairly famous part of the series' comic book history.

The show's return is not a huge surprise, given how popular The Boys season 2 was when it aired in fall 2020. According to Business Insider, The Boys became the first non-Netflix series to debut on Nielsen’s list of the top streaming shows, but it's still pleasing to see that we'll be getting more adventures involving Billy Butcher and the gang soon.

The Boys season 3 is not only happening, then, but production on the next instalment began in February 2021. At the time of writing, the show is deep into principal photography, with Eric Kripke marking the moment that cameras began to roll on Twitter earlier this year:

With plenty of filming already in the can, it shouldn't be much longer before production wraps on season 3. In fact, according to the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) website, season 3 is schedule to wrap in late August.

That appears to be confirmed as much by star Karl Urban, who plays Billy Butler. Taking to Instagram on May 17, Urban uploaded an image of himself, Jack Quaid (Hughie Campbell) and new boy Jensen Ackles (Soldier Boy), and revealed that the cast and crew were halfway through production on season 3.

If we take Kripke's earlier comments about a February start date into account, that means that principal photography on season 3 is meant to last six months. That suggests that The Boys season 3 is, as IATSE revealed, on track to finish in August.

If that's the case, we shouldn't expect The Boys season 3 to arrive this year. There will be plenty of post-production to carry out, editing every episode so that they flow naturally, as well as dealing with potential reshoots if the Covid-19 pandemic gets in the way and other possible production issues.

If we had to guess, we'd say that the show will get a teaser trailer before the end of 2021, with an official The Boys season 3 release date coming early in 2022. There'll be no complaints from us if it lands sooner, however.

Nothing as yet, but once we get one, we'll update this section.

We wouldn't be surprised, however, if a The Boys season 3 trailer debuts at the San Diego Comic-Con Special Edition, scheduled for Thanksgiving weekend (November 26 to 28, 2021), providing it isn't cancelled due to Covid-19.

The Boys season 3 cast

The Boys season 3 cast: who's returning and who's new?

Ashley Barrett, Stormfront, Homelander and Queen Maeve in The Boys season 2.

There will be plenty of returning fan favorites for season 3:

  • Karl Urban as William 'Billy' Butcher
  • Jack Quaid as Hugh 'Hughie' Campbell Jr.
  • Antony Starr as John/Homelander
  • Erin Moriarty as Annie January/Starlight
  • Dominique McElligott as Maggie Shaw/Queen Maeve
  • Jessie T. Usher as Reggie Franklin/A-Train
  • Chase Crawford as Kevin Moskowitz/The Deep
  • Laz Alonso as Mother's Milk
  • Tomer Capon as Frenchie
  • Karan Fukuhara as Kimiko Miyashiro/The Female
  • Nathan Mitchell as Black Noir
  • Colby Minifie as Ashley Barrett
  • Claudia Doumit as Victoria 'Vic' Neuman

The Boys season 3 cast should also feature a few more returning characters, but there's no official word on whether they'll appear yet. That list could include Laila Robins as ex-CIA Deputy Director Grace Mallory, Cameron Crovetti as Homelander and Becca's son Ryan Butcher and Giancarlo Esposito as Vought CEO Stan Edgar.

As for new cast members, the biggest news is that Supernatural's Jensen Ackles (aka Dean Winchester) has been brought on board to portray Soldier Boy, the first ever Vought-manufactured superhero.

We dive into what Soldier Boy's arrival could mean for season 3 in the next section. For now, though, here's your first look at Ackles in his costume for The Boys, complete with an R-rated tongue-in-cheek comment concerning another US super soldier from another big superhero franchise:

In addition to Ackles' Soldier Boy, Deadline reports that Katia Winter (Blood & Treasure) has been cast as Little Nina. In the graphic novels, Little Nina is a Russian mob boss who has a penchant for sex toys, so expect more in the way of R-rated content when the show returns.

The Boys season 3 cast grew further in June 2021. Entertainment Weekly revealed that Sean Patrick Flanery, Nick Wechsler and Miles Gaston Villanueva have joined the show as Gunpowder, Blue Hawk and Supersonic, respectively, while Variety announced that former Walking Dead survivor Laurie Holden will be joining the series as Crimson Countess.

Of the quartet of newbies, only Crimson Countess and Gunpowder have appeared in the source comics. Both could be described as villains – though such things are relative in The Boys universe, of course – with Crimson Countess a riff on WandaVision ’s Scarlet Witch, and Gunpowder a weapons expert.

Interestingly, Gunpowder briefly appeared in a TV interview in The Boys season 1, though he was played by a different actor.

The Boys season 3 plot

The Boys season 3 plot: what can we expect from the story?

Billy, Hughie, Mother's Milk, Frenchie and Kimiko in The Boys

Spoilers follow for The Boys season 2 and the graphic novels.

While season 2 wrapped up plenty of its plot threads, there are still some things that The Boys season 3 must address.

One of the biggest concerns Stormfront (Aya Cash), who was severely injured by Ryan Butcher's lazer eye attack in the season 2 finale. The only thing we have to go on, so far, is that Vought boss Stan Edgar said she's "in a secure location". It seems, then, that she could have a role to play in the series moving forward. Whether that's as part of The Boys season 3, however, is unclear.

Stormfront’s diminished state means that there‘s a vacancy to join Homelander in the 'Big Bad' department. Now that Congresswoman Victoria Neuman has been outed as the Supe who explodes heads – as seen in the final scene of season 2 – the smart money would have to be on her.

Of course, that means things could get bad for Hughie. As we saw in the season 2 finale, The Boys have temporarily disbanded, and Hughie has gone off to work for Neuman. We don't know how long it'll be before Hughie cottons onto the fact that his new boss is as bad as, say Homelander, or what Neuman's master plan is. Expect it to be the base on which The Boys season 3's plot is built though.

Speaking of Homelander, it appears that he's going to go off the rails in season 3. Last seen standing on one of the city's tallest buildings and, well, pleasuring himself, Homelander has a maniacal look in his eye. That "I can do whatever the f**k I want!" line he repeats, too, is proof that he's ready to get back at those who betrayed him in season 2. If we were Queen Maeve, Starlight and The Boys, we'd be watching our backs.

Homelander won't be the only Supe who is ready to bring the hurt in season 3, either. Soldier Boy is primed to cause some chaos, and his graphic novel backstory hints at some really mature content that's likely to appear in the TV adaptation.

In the comics, there are two versions of Soldier Boy, and it appears that the TV series has settled on introducing the former. The first generation Soldier Boy is a Supe who becomes a US icon during World War II – think of him as The Boys' version of Captain America – but his backstory isn't as honorable as the general public are led to believe.

As it happens, Soldier Boy ends up killing his fellow Supes, as well as US soldiers, during a mission. Lieutenant Greg Mallory, whose gender was changed for the TV series, winds up killing Soldier Boy for his behavior in the comics. However, given that this Soldier Boy is alive and well in the TV universe, his backstory and character arc will need to be altered.

The arrival of Soldier Boy also ushers in the the introduction of another superhero group, too – Payback. Dubbed the "second most popular superhero team" behind The Seven, Payback are the team led by the second iteration of Soldier Boy. In the comics, Stormfront is also a member of this unit, so her live-action counterpart already has ties to the TV show's version of Soldier Boy.

Additionally, The Boys season 3's first episode is titled 'Payback' – as revealed by Eric Kripke on Twitter. This might be a subtle tease about how Homelander plans to exact revenge on those who turned on him by the end of season 2, but it's much more likely to hint at Payback's arrival.

If it does, we could get a flashback episode introduces Soldier Boy, his World War II actions and what he's up to in the present day. That would lead nicely into season 3's main plot, and also act as a novel way to open The Boys' next instalment. Given that we've had new superhero casting announcements recently, this appears more likely.

Kripke has elaborated on how Soldier Boy may fit into The Boys season 3, too. Speaking to Deadline in June 2021, Kripke said: "A big element of the comics actually are flashbacks to World War II and Vietnam. I always really loved it because you got to see how the superhero phenomenon didn’t just affect the present, but how it affected parts of the past as well."

The showrunner also revealed that season 3 will get more political as well.

"I’d say in previous seasons the boogeyman for you to be scared of used to be, 'The terrorists are coming to get you,'" he said. "And now it’s sort of metastasized into, I think, a much more ominous, 'Your neighbor is coming to get you'. And that’s scary to me, how politics are turning us on each other. So, we want to explore what it means to be in America, really."

Regardless of how Soldier Boy is introduced, we know that his appearance will lead to the inclusion of one of the graphic novels' most shocking plot threads – Herogasm. Without delving too deep into spoiler territory for the comics, Herogasm is a storyline that sees all of Vought's superheroes travel to a remote tropical island to engage in a massive, secret company-organized orgy.

At the time of the graphic novels' publication, Herogasm was considered to be the most controversial moment in the entire series. It contains one particular scene involving Homelander and Soldier Boy having sex, but The Boys season 3 won't include this particular sequence, as Kripke confirmed during a Q&A last October:

Kripke has since teased Herogasm's sequence in season 3, saying that filming this part of the show was the "craziest dailies" that he'd ever seen:

While there will be plenty of risqué moments in The Boys season 3, there will also be plenty of blood, gore and violence. Speaking to Collider about the show's production, Laz Alonso (Mother's Milk) revealed that the upcoming season would be the bloodiest yet.

"I'll put it to you this way," he said. "I was talking to the head make-up artist and she's in charge of ordering the blood – that's one of her many jobs. She told me that all of Season 2... When you talk about bulk, I don't think they used over a gallon of blood in Season 2, believe it or not. Season 3, we're already at three and a half gallons of blood. So that should give you a little indication of where it's going."

Alonso's comments were partly backed up by Jack Quaid (Hughie), too. Speaking to Inverse, Quaid teased the prospect that "no one is okay" when season 3's story kicks into gear, so we better start preparing ourselves for the worst now.

There are other less important story threads that need some form of resolution in The Boys season 3. For one, Compound V – the substance used to give people their superpowers – isn't being released to the general public anymore. It'll be interesting to see if this is the first and last time that it'll be offered out to the wider population, or if it'll still fall into the wrong hands and lead to the emergence of new supervillains.

Additionally, there's bound to be more infighting among The Seven's members. As the season 2 finale revealed, A-Train and Starlight have been readmitted to the team, but The Deep hasn't. The last time we saw The Deep, he stormed out of the Church of the Collective's headquarters after A-Train was selected for reinstatement over him, so he'll have an axe to grind over that.

Furthermore, Homelander is still on that team, so no doubt he'll be gunning for Starlight, too. Add in the fact that Black Noir is in a vegetative state after he suffered a peanut allergy in season 2, and Queen Maeve's presence in The Seven, and things could get ugly very fast.

We should find out more about a couple of other superpowered beings. First, there's Cindy. She's the telekinetic individual who broke out of the Sage Grove testing facility, and was last seen hitchhiking towards an unknown destination. She seems to be traveling down the 'supervillain' path, so she might end up having a more prominent role in The Boys season 3.

Next, we have the aptly named Love Sausage – yes, the guy with the abnormally long penis (played by Andrew Jackson) who attempts to strangle Mother's Milk at the testing facility. Kripke has teased that Love Sausage may appear in The Boys season 3, but we'll have to wait and see how he fits into the story.

“Without spoiling anything, someone just successfully pitched, not an extended return but a return of Love Sausage in season 3,” the showrunner told Entertainment Weekly in October 2020, “so, there's more Love Sausage on the horizon.”

The new season may also be taking a note out of Avengers: Endgame's book and jumping forward in time. Per recent photographs taken on set, The Boys season 3 may occur in 2024, judging by a poster where real-life Senator Ted Cruz is making a run for the presidency:

The Boys season 3: new YouTube miniseries fills in the gaps

The Boys season 3: new YouTube miniseries bridges the gap between seasons 2 and 3

To help tide fans over until season 3 arrives, a new YouTube tie-in series, which covers the wide Boys universe, was launched on Thursday, July 8.

Seven on Seven with Cameron Coleman will be a news-style episodic miniseries that will bridge the gap between season 2's finale and the start of season 3.

Starring Matthew Edison as the titular news anchor, Seven on Seven is broadcast on the fictional Vought News channel and details all of the latest news surrounding the world's greatest superhero group, as well as secondary Supes and other important characters (including Hughie and Victoria Neuman).

Speaking to The Wrap, Kripke attributed the idea for a YouTube series to Amazon Prime's marketing team.

Confirming that they write the scripts (Kripke provides notes and guidance on what to include, however), Kripke also stated that every episode would contain "all real, canon stuff", so "Seven on 7" will contain interesting snippets for fans to keep abreast of ahead of season 3.

New episodes will arrive on the seventh of every month until The Boys season 3 premieres on Amazon Prime Video.

You can check out the first episode above, which explores Stormfront supposedly breaking Homelander's heart, Starlight's chart-topping music video and Hughie being brought onto Neuman's staff.

The Boys season 3: how many seasons will there be?

The Boys' main cast stand next to a wall during a promotional photoshoot

Kripke has revealed that he has planned for five seasons of The Boys. However, the series' showrunner also went to tease the prospect of more instalments than that late last year:

It's an unsurprising stance, seeing as Supernatural – the show that made Kripke's name – was originally supposed to run for five seasons, too, but ended up making it to 15.

The showrunner may decide, then, that The Boys needs another season or two after its fifth instalment in order to wrap up its story. There are 72 issues of Ennis and Robertson's comics and, while the TV show has gone in its own direction with how the source material's story plays out, there's enough plot left to tell for at least three or four seasons.

Besides, assuming audiences continue to watch The Boys, Amazon is likely to keep renewing what's arguably its biggest TV show for as long as possible. In other words, you can bet on The Boys running for a number of seasons yet.

Microsoft Teams reveals it will automatically delete your old calls - if you let it

Users looking to access recordings of past Microsoft Teams calls will need to make sure they don't wait too long to do so, the company has warned.

Microsoft recently revealed that the video conferencing service would automatically delete recordings of calls after a set period of time if users took no action with their files, such as downloading or listening back.

The company has now confirmed that this period of time will be set at 60 days, so users will need to interact with the recordings they need within a matter of weeks, or face losing the files for good.

Microsoft Teams call deletion

Microsoft says the 60-day limit was chosen after the company found this was the average time past which most meeting recordings are never watched again.

Users and admins can still change the default expiration date, although the setting will not immediately be accessible.

Microsoft Teams revealed plans to begin recording all calls automatically back in June 2021, replacing an earlier process where users had to opt-in to call recording.

The feature is particularly useful for organizations that need to capture meeting interactions in order to comply with industry regulations or local laws.

Meeting participants see a warning displayed at the start of a call to alert them that the meeting is being recorded, with the recording available to download and listen back to after the call has ended.

The company also recently revealed an update that would allow Teams admins to set meeting recordings stored on OneDrive and SharePoint to expire automatically.

Set to roll out in September, the feature will allow the creation of a default Teams policy setting on automatic deletion, although admins will be able to modify the default meeting recording expiration time through a setting in the Teams Admin Portal or by modifying policy attributes using Powershell scripts.

The feature will bring Microsoft Teams up to speed with rivals services such as Zoom, which have offered call recording (and call deletion) for some time.
